Ichiban Mixed Martial Arts

Thank you to all who have supported Ichiban MMA. We will be closing in October 2014 and are no longer enrolling new members. It has been a real pleasure serving the Asheville community.

Welcome to Ichiban MMA.

Ichiban Mixed Martial Arts provides a safe, family-oriented environment for people of all ages, skill levels, and goals to be able to train and prosper. Whether your goal is physical fitness, self-defense, an outlet for stress, or to be a competitor, Ichiban will provide you with the tools to reach that goal.

Our programs provide a well-rounded, athletic approach to martial arts. We focus on practical, hands-on training in an atmosphere that emphasizes teamwork and safety.

Kids learn Judo, which is composed of throws, pins, and submission holds. These same techniques translate easily to Jiu Jitsu competition, Mixed Martial Arts, and self-defense. Because Judo emphasizes grappling instead of punching and kicking, it feels strategic, rather than violent.  Students are encouraged, but certainly not required, to compete in as many competitions as possible. The benefits of Judo include physical conditioning, understanding of strategy, cooperation, and confidence through personal empowerment.

Adults learn a mix of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, and Kickboxing, as well as MMA-specific techniques.  Classes are divided by subject matter, so students can choose on which types of training they would to focus.  Judo and Jiu Jitsu techniques are taught both with and without the gi (uniform). Kickboxing classes include technical drills and light, controlled sparring.

Above all, everyone is welcome at Ichiban MMA. Our goal is to share the benefits of martial arts with the whole community.  You are more than welcome to try a FREE introductory week. For more information please consult our FAQ or contact us directly.
